I love Berwick-upon-Tweed!

Simply one of the most fascinating towns in...wait a minute...it isn't actually in Scotland. Close enough though.

How often have I sung the praises of my favourite town not in Scotland? Actually, quite a bit over the years. But who can resist the walks round the breezy ramparts, or the walk out to the end of the pier/breakwater that seems to be half-way to Denmark? It's all very historic and friendly too.

Anyway, my view of Berwick here is in gouache, because I was in that sort of mood and sometimes find acrylic a bit, uhmm, flashy and bright. Besides, even if the gouache tube goes hard - the blues are worst for this - you can always open the tube and ground the colour down to re-use it. (Ooh a trade secret given away there - but you know the price of paint...)

I should also say that the size on offer is a bit of a hybrid for 'standard' frames. 50 x 30 cm. OK, OK, so I got carried away and extended it panorama-wise, because I wanted to include the old bridge and the town hall spire, which I suppose tops and tails the composition. Anyway, I like and I hope you will too.
